By Subway from Brooklyn
Please adjust the above directions appropriately (e.g., change “front of train” to “end of train” and “first exit in Brooklyn” to “last exit in Brooklyn”).
By Car or Taxi from or via Manhattan:
1. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge and take the first right exit (it appears before the descent from the bridge is over and is marked for Cadman Plaza/BQE). 2. Once on ramp, immediately move into left lane (marked for Cadman Plaza). 3. Go straight to second stoplight, where you turn left onto Henry Street. 4. At the sixth stoplight, turn left onto State Street (if you reach Atlantic Avenue, you’ve gone one block too far). 5. Go through the next stoplight and ½ block further. 180 State is on the right and is the last of three consecutive limestone buildings. See note below on parking.
By Car or Taxi from or via Long Island:
1. Take the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) and exit right on the Atlantic Avenue exit. 2A. If coming from the South (i.e., from the Belt Parkway, the Verrazano Bridge, etc.), take the right hand lane of the exit and turn right onto Atlantic Avenue. There will be a stoplight immediately after joining Atlantic; turn left there onto Hicks Street. 2B. If coming from the North (i.e., from the Long Island Expressway, La Guardia Airport, the Whitestone Bridge, etc.), take the right hand lane of the Atlantic Avenue exit and turn right. Continue to the first stoplight and turn right onto Atlantic Avenue. Follow Atlantic under the BQE overpass to the second stoplight; turn left there onto Hicks Street. 3. Take the first right onto State Street (the one block you will travel on Hicks is very short). 4. Go through two stoplights and ½ block further. 180 State is on the right and is the last of three consecutive limestone buildings. Parking is on street or in any of the private garages on the next block of State.
Parking:
Parking is on street, or in any of the following garages (directions permit you to try them in the order given).
1. After driving past our house on State Street, turn left at the second light onto Boerum Place. Turn left at the second light onto Livingston Street. There are indoor and outdoor garages on that block of Livingston (between Boerum and Court Street). 2. If those are not available, turn left on Court Street and go four blocks along Court, turning right on Pacific. There will be a garage almost immediately on the right (Central Parking a/k/a “The Parking Club”). 3. If that is unavailable, continue on Pacific to the first intersection, where you turn right onto Clinton Street. Follow Clinton to the 3rd or 4th traffic light, which is Joralemon Street, where you will turn left. After going completely through two traffic lights (Henry and Hicks), take the first left turn onto Willow Place. Follow Willow Place one long block to the end, which is State Street. There is a garage on State exactly where Willow Place ends. 4. If you still haven’t found parking, follow State Street (it is one way) on up again towards our house looking for street parking, and follow the above route again or explore the nearby streets to try to find parking.
